We will  contact you two (2) days before surgery via text or phone call with:

• Your arrival time
• Fasting instructions

Please call us on 8353 6768 if you:

• Are booked for upcoming eye surgery
• Have recently had surgery and have questions about post-operative care
• Have been offered a surgery date
• Need to pay your surgery gap
• Have questions about private health insurance or gap payments

Please call your private hospital if your questions are around your admission forms or any other questions relating to your day stay in hospital. 

Unfortunately, surgery order is determined by:

• The type of surgery
• Your general health
• Which eye is being operated on

While we can note preferences (for example, “as late as possible”), we cannot guarantee a surgery time.

No. You must have someone collect you from the day hospital and stay with you overnight.
There are limited exceptions—please contact the surgery team if you are unsure.

Yes. Full payment is required on the day of your appointment.

EFTPOS facilities are available, and we will lodge your Medicare claim electronically. If your bank details are registered with Medicare, rebates are usually paid within a few days.

No. Surgery costs usually involve three components:

1. Surgeon’s fee (gap payment)
2. Anaesthetist’s fee
3. Hospital fee (excess or co-payment)

The gap payment applies only to the surgeon’s fee and must be paid prior to your surgery.

Your health fund can advise you about any hospital excess, which is paid directly to the private hospital. The anaesthetist’s rooms will contact you separately if there are fees payable.

For self-funded patients, quotes for each of these will be obtained for you. 

Surgery fees are estimates because additional procedures or items may be required during surgery. If this occurs, the surgery team will contact you afterward to discuss any additional costs.

No. The Private Hospital policy requires that post-operative drops are supplied by the hospital. If you have reached the Medicare Safety Net, please contact the pharmacy that supplied your medication to have your invoice adjusted before payment.

Patients who have had surgery with our ophthalmologists will receive after-hours contact details.

New patients with urgent issues should ask their referring doctor or optometrist to contact us directly.
