We want your appointment at Western Eyecare to be as smooth and stress-free as possible. Information on this page will help you know exactly what to expect.
What to expect.
You will need a referral from a GP or optometrist to claim a Medicare rebate, it is your responsibility to ensure we receive your referral before your consultation. If you are unsure, please call us on 08 8353 6768.
As part of your consultation with your eye specialist, you will have a series of visual tests performed before seeing the doctor. Therefore, we do ask that you allow at least an hour for your appointment. There are times when eye drops may be necessary and will impact on your vision. We ask that you have a driver if you can, or be prepared to wait up to an hour before driving and bring some sunglasses which will help with the glare.
At the first appointment, please bring with you;
- Medicare Card
- Concession Card
- Private Health Insurance Card
- Current Spectacles
Where to find us.
We are located on 1st floor of the Western Hospital, 168 Cudmore Tce, Henley Beach. There is parking out the front of the hospital. If this is full, there is also parking on all the side streets around the hospital.
Informed financial consent.
You are required to pay your account in full at the time of consultation. Payment can be made by EFTPOS, credit card or cash. (Specialist Fees and Medicare rebates are subject to change without notice).
A Gap is charged over the Medicare Rebate and Private Health Fund for Western Eyecare consultations and procedures. Private hospital insurance only applies to fees for services provided to you whilst you are an inpatient in hospital. Medicare benefits can be claimed directly through our software on the day of your appointment and your Medicare rebate will be returned into your nominated bank account usually within 24 hours. Please note that we do accept DVA Gold Card and have both full fee and concession rates.
